SEARCHING FOR PROPERTY ON THE COSTA
BLANCA, SPAIN
Look at Property
Before your Spanish Visit
You may be thinking of a
second home or retirement home in Spain but want to know more about offers, regions and
prices. Inspection trips are one answer but these will often restrict your property search
to a restricted list of higher priced projects. A better option is to see more, by taking
a holiday, and visiting a region that interests you in your own time.
Here on the Costa Blanca, most
visitors book flights to Alicante airport outside the busy June-August months and collect
a hire car at the airport. The A7 motorway runs the length of the Costa Blanca giving easy
access to all the coastal towns and villages, so if you use a central town like Calpe it
is not more then half an hours drive to Javea, Denia, Altea, Moraira, Jalon or Benissa. If
you do make Calpe the base for your property search, there is a list
of Calpe hotels here.

It is a good idea to look at Costa Blanca properties on internet prior to leaving. This
allows you to make the most of your search time in Spain. You can compare prices and
offers and get a feel for what Costa Blanca homes are like. If you have questions these
can be answered by e mail, and you may want to make a preliminary interest list so that
you can start viewing as soon as you arrive.
Every property is different
but construction
methods on the Costa Blanca have a lot in common to suit the Mediterranean climate of
hot summers and mild winters. Typical villas will have red tile roofs and covered terraces
to take advantage of the evening air for family and guests, and often a swimming pool to
freshen off in the summer months. Palm trees and purple climbing bougainvillea are a
feature in gardens and most properties will have tilled floors with a wood burning chimney
in the living-room. Apartments are located in the town centres and beachfont, and villas
on the hillsides surrounding the towns.
When you are eventually
successful in your Costa Blanca property search, you may want to buy with a Spanish mortgage. These are easy to arrange,
and as a foreign buyer you can borrow around 70% of the purchase price with a monthly
repayment that is fixed year by year. As an owner, you will receive a title deed
(escritura) and have your name and title inscribed in the town's Property Register, and
the legal matters will be taken care of by an A.P.I.
property agent or lawyer who will translate and
provide all the documentation.
We look forward to
meeting you!
