Puerto Blanco ***** This is probably one of the best restaurants in Calpe situated next to the small harbour of La Canuta. Casa del Maco ***** This too is an extremely good restaurant, in summer on the terrace the most magnificent view towards Calpe. Set in the hills above Calpe Pou Roig-Lleus, follow road N332 towards Benissa after small garden centre on left and just before bridge with a left gradient turn, turn left up a small single track road continue for 2k and you will see signs well worth the effort. - Tel: 965732842 www.casadelmaco.com
Caviar Situated in Urbanization Colina del Sol with great views and a spectacular skyline. Chef and manager Marino Álvarez (ex. Asador de Marino) offers a carefully prepared menu of fresh fish and seafood without forgetting his meats and fresh caviar. With a modernist decoration the whole menu and wine collection were worthwhile. Typical dishes are rump and sirloin steak, salt baked fish, caviar imported directly from Russia and all the fresh seafood that you can imagine. Marisol Park A smart modern restaurant in the charming Marisol Park Hotel**** , close to Calpe center, just behind the Lidl supermarket. A typical international menu using first quality ingredients with a speciality of tasty Paellas prepared over a wood fire (Paellas a la leña). Abiss Possibly the most modernist of Calpe cuisine in a minimalist ambience with excellent views over Calpe beach and the Peñon de ifach. Situated on the ground floor of the Gran Hotel Sol y Mar**** with the entrance on calle Benidorm, we found good rice dishes and a careful chefs signature cuisine without forgeting representative fish dishes of Calpe village, ideal for exclusive parties or just a surprise. La Viña de Calpe This is a lovely olde-worlde type restaurant with attentive staff you get good Spanish and European cooking here and a parrot to keep you company. A good bar to take pre dinner drinks and study the extensive menu. Found on the right side of the Merced road, keeping the Hotel Esmeralda to your back. El Boqueron de Plata Hidden away in an apartment building half way up Avenida Valencia (parallel to Avda. Gabriel Miró). Calpe people are here for the super fresh fish and seafood dishes in the traditional Valencian style. It's family owned and often full at midday. It's one of the restaurants in the La Taula, Alicante Gastronomic Club with a choice of three daily menus apart from á la carte.- Tel: 965835539
Restaurante Baydal With us now for more than 50 years, this is undoubtedly one of the reference points of Calpe, with a rich collection of tapas at the bar, prawns, boiled crayfish, lobsters, pescaditos, baby octopus, seafood platters or if you wish, take a seat in the main restaurant for sea food dishes, paellas, fried fish ... all best quality and perfectly fresh. Dracula Something different! Just across the road from the Baydal in Calpe port. The owners Florina and Marius Mohanu come from old Transylvania (hence the name) and offer a variety of tasty Rumanian dishes from the Transylvanian region prepared by the head of kitchen Cornelia Ciornei. They recommend the home made patés and soups, Rumania salad and sausages and dried meats imported from Transylvania, not to forget the maize polenta with goat's cheese. Club Nautico In the fine surroundings of Calpe Yacht Club at the foot of the Peñon de Ifach you can find this restaurant that has was renovated in April 2010. The owner, Jaime has a long experience of the restaurant business and both the rice and fresh fish dishes are his highlights. Oscars Named after the owner and his son this restaurant is only open through the summer months, such a shame as this has excellent food served by Oscar and his attentive staff. Los Dos Cañones Be careful how you pronounce this Spanish word as replace the ñ with a j and you could be insulting someone. Apart from that this is a typical good Spanish restaurant where you will be warmly greeted by the owner and served some good wholesome cooking. In the old town. - Tel: 95837492
Cambalache The first Argentinian restaurant in Calpe tucked away up a back street but still easy to find, directly in the street behind bar Calpe with the original gents hairdressers on the corner walk up this street and take the first left and you will fall upon Cambalache the most tenderest steaks that I have ever eaten. Ask for extra vegetables though otherwise is just steak and potatoes. - Tel: 9558332702
Taberna Antigua Again still in the old town not far from one of the museums in Calle del Mar this German restaurant has delicious food served in a small intimate cellar. Good service service with home cooking at it's best. German style with international flavours must for a different night out. - Tel: 965838212
Pizzeria Campanari This is mainly a summer street and terrace eatery but I've mentioned it because it has a certain reputation in Calpe. In winter it's small inside but worth booking just for the homemade rolls. Heated by the pizza oven so it's warm in winter. - Tel: 965833231
Rincón de Calpe Tucked away up a back street, walk past Barclays bank take 2nd on left you will then see the restaurant on the right hand side. A truly Spanish bar and restaurant with traditional Spanish dishes. Real Spanish décor bottles of wine suspended from the ceiling, wall picture tiles. - Tel: 965832460
La Cambra Next door to the pub Delfin in the street of the same name, traditional Valancian town house, upstairs for the á la carte dining area with a bar and menu eating area down-stairs. Delicious paella and rice dishes and International cuisine well served with a regular professional crowd at midday. An old Spanish atmosphere and the the food is unfailingly good. - Tel: 965830605
Antic Roma Nearly next door to the above but on the corner a large airy Italian restaurant with good food all-round. The prices here are remarkably low for the quality served, ask for the house wine they normally give you a really good Italian if you ask. Excellent food and prices. - Tel: 965874054
Pizzeria Mama Leone A typical restaurant-pizzeria with a bakery service, breakfasts, pizzas, pasta dishes including take aways, an exterior summer terrace and large dining room. They've been in Calpe for more the 20 years. C/ Blasco Ibanez. Tel: 965833161
Porque No Why not, why not indeed this Dutch owned and operated restaurant has a good feel about the place and the food is to a high standard. In winter a warm and bright restaurant in summer they share the patio outside with another restaurant good all-round quality and service. Calle Jardin. - Tel: 965838737
Steakhouse Calpe Along at the end of the street from the above. This German owned restaurant is completely booked every night so please do telephone and make a reservation as with all our recommended restaurants they do get busy because they are good so please do book. The speciality of the house here is goose highly recommended. Go here even if it's just for the goose you will not be disappointed. - Tel: 965836610
Casita Suiza Situated in Calle Jardin you can't miss this one a Swiss wooden chalet frontage impressive for a restaurant, inside the theme is carried forward. A nice all-round restaurant with good food reasonably priced and good service. Again booking is essential fondues if you like. - Tel: 965830606
La Fosa As the name suggests La Fosa is on the beach promenade with the same name, next door to Fox's bar. Here a large restaurant is good for "menu del dia" that includes the wine. Don't fall for the old trick and think that the wine already on the table when you arrive is the house wine, it's not and is expensive here. So be warned drink the house wine with the menu del dia, and enjoy it !!!!!!!!!! - Tel: 965835324
Calpe has plenty of low priced "Menu" type restaurants for midday meals like the popular El Roble in C/Blasco Ibanez (parallel to C/Jardin, Apolo III) or you could try the English run, Café Boulevard half way up Avda, Gabriel Miró on the left, which is a great place for home made quiche and salad in a modern design bar overlooking the avenue.
