Altea urbanizations
villas and apartments
Altea's long pebble beach and
promenade is a favourite summer destination for visitors from throughout Spain and Europe.
With 2 km of first line apartments facing the sea you will always find some of these
properties for sale. Many of them feature wide sunny terraces with great views and are
typically in the higher price range, but there again, you do get one of the best locations
in the Mediterranean.
A more economical alternative
could be an apartment in Altea town
centre that is only three streets away from the sea front. Here you have a full range
of shops, banks, and services on your doorstep and most of the local Spanish residents
live here. Altea Old Town with it's popular church square is only 10 minutes walk away and
the property here comprises cottages and town houses many of which have been renovated.
They retain their traditional appearance and a fair number are always offered for sale
although getting a parking here can be a problem. You will find them on the ancient pebble
paved streets that lead up the the church square (Plaza de la Iglesia) and many of them
have fine sea views from their roof terraces.
Altea's most recent major new
development is the Altea Hills
urbanization that has taken shape on the sunny slopes of the Sierra Bernia. It offers the
finest views over Altea Bay and has a high quality infrastructure of roads with pavements,
street lighting and facilities such as the five star Melia Altea Hills hotel and spa. It
has become a favourite site for the construction of luxury villas and it has a direct
access to the exclusive Luis Campomanes Sports Harbour.
The Puerto Deportivo Luis
Campomanes is located directly on Greenwich meridain 00º00' and offers new village style
properties beside the moorings in the harbour with higher rise apartments further
back beside the cliffs. The nearby Pueblo Mascarat urbanization
overlooks the harbour and also keeps the Spanish village theme with arches and terraces.
Properties here often have good sea views and the area is being extended to include the
new La Reserva complex on Calpe's Sierra de Toix.
Continuing along the coast
road from Mascarat towards Altea you can turn off left to the La Galera del Mar
urbanization or right to La Galera de las Palmeras. Galera del Mar comprises small villas
and bungalows in very lush tropical gardens and Galera de las Palmeras has newer
properties on a hillside overlooking the sea and is a very convenient location with quiet
shady streets.
If you take the nearby
motorway entrance and turn right before the toll booths you will arrive at the village of Altea la Vieja.
This was the original settlement of Altea and is found beside the popular Don Cayo golf
course and the Sierra de Altea urbanization. Properties here are for the most part large
private villas with pools on wide pine forested streets. The Urlisa urbanizations comprise
Urlisa I,II and III in
their order of development with properties dating from the 1970's in Urlisa I to new
developments of villas and bungalows in Urlisa II and III. About 1 km leaving Altea la
Vieja on the right you will find the entrance to Alahama Springs, one of Altea's first
urbanizations of private villas with pools.
